The most common reason a pet placement goes wrong in Bengaluru has nothing to do with the animal. It is a building rule nobody checked, or a neighbour nobody spoke to.
Check one: does your association permit it?
Ask in writing, and ask specifically about the size of animal you intend to keep. A verbal yes from one committee member is not the same as a rule. Model bye-laws in Karnataka generally do not permit a blanket ban, but you want the conversation done before you bring an animal home, not after a complaint.
Check two: the lift
If a service lift is the only one pets may use and it is frequently out, that is your daily routine for the next decade. Walk it once at seven in the morning before you decide.
Check three: the flooring
Polished granite and vitrified tile give a young animal no grip. Put runners down along the routes it will run before it arrives. This is cheap, and it prevents the joint strain that shows up much later.
Neighbours are the fourth check nobody makes
A dog that greets the corridor politely buys goodwill you will need the first time it barks at midnight. Spend the first month on that and the rest is easier.
