Buy Blue & Gold Macaw in Thrissur, Kerala
What is listed for Thrissur is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Blue & Gold Macaw you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Blue & Gold Macaw reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.
What a Blue & Gold Macaw costs in Thrissur
The purchase is the small number. Over 5-15 Years, food, boosters, grooming and one unplanned vet visit a year will each outweigh it. Anyone selling you a Blue & Gold Macaw without mentioning that is selling, not advising.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Blue & Gold Macaw arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Blue & Gold Macaw names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented bird from an undocumented one.
Feeding a large bird without guesswork
Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the bird lobbies. A Blue & Gold Macaw that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 5-15 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Blue & Gold Macaw comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Thrissur flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
What you will pay
Expect ₹130,187 upward, to around ₹130,187. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Blue & Gold Macaw in Thrissur: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Blue & Gold Macaw: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 22°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Blue & Gold Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, April and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 33 | 35 | 35 | 34 | 31 | 29 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 30 | 30 |
| Low °C | 22 | 23 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 25 | 24 | 24 | 24 | 24 | 23 | 22 |
| Rain mm | 9 | 19 | 41 | 104 | 223 | 444 | 395 | 309 | 251 | 290 | 149 | 29 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
