What is listed for Ponnani is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Blue & Gold Macaw you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Blue & Gold Macaw arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Blue & Gold Macaw that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 5-15 Years is easier.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Blue & Gold Macaw; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a large bird notices both. moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Blue & Gold Macaw will barely register the change.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Blue & Gold Macaw reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.
Is a Blue & Gold Macaw a sensible choice for you in Ponnani?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A large bird in a Ponnani apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Blue & Gold Macaw price, and the cost after it
₹130,187 to ₹130,187 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Blue & Gold Macaw without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Blue & Gold Macaw is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Blue & Gold Macaw in Ponnani: local climate
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 32°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Blue & Gold Macaw that it is on the plains.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 25°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Blue & Gold Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are December to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |

Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
