Buy Scarlet Macaw in Kothamangalam, Kerala
What is listed for Kothamangalam is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Scarlet Macaw you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new large bird entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Scarlet Macaw that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 5-15 Years is easier.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a large bird notices both. moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Scarlet Macaw will barely register the change.
Is a Scarlet Macaw a sensible choice for you in Kothamangalam?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Scarlet Macaw will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kothamangalam without much drama.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Scarlet Macaw.
Feeding a large bird without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Scarlet Macaw will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Scarlet Macaw price, and the cost after it
₹298,026 to ₹298,026 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Scarlet Macaw without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Scarlet Macaw in Kothamangalam: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Scarlet Macaw: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 23°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Scarlet Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are December to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 33 | 34 | 33 | 31 | 29 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 29 | 30 |
| Low °C | 23 | 24 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 23 |

Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
