We place across Kothamangalam and the wider Kerala region. If a small bird does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Is a Jenday Conure a sensible choice for you in Kothamangalam?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Jenday Conure will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kothamangalam without much drama.
What a Jenday Conure costs in Kothamangalam
Between ₹9,640 and ₹9,640 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the bird is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Jenday Conure costs more up front and less in the first months.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Do not introduce a small Jenday Conure to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the bird already has one place it considers its own.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Jenday Conure names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented bird from an undocumented one.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
warm and humid, and the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Jenday Conure that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 5-15 Years is easier.
Jenday Conure price, and the cost after it
₹9,640 to ₹9,640 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Jenday Conure without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Jenday Conure in Kothamangalam: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Jenday Conure: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 23°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Jenday Conure bird, the easiest months to arrive are December to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 33 | 34 | 33 | 31 | 29 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 29 | 30 |
| Low °C | 23 | 24 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 23 |
| Rain mm | 4 | 8 | 28 | 88 | 226 | 589 | 565 | 409 | 275 | 251 | 122 | 25 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Jenday Conure
Your week with a Jenday Conure, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the bird properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Jenday Conure comes home.
