We place across Devikulam and the wider Kerala region. If a small dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a small dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly Dachshund Puppy is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 10-12 Years.
Is a Dachshund Puppy a sensible choice for you in Devikulam?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small dog in a Devikulam apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips For a Dachshund Puppy that means grooming is not cosmetic - it is how you catch problems early. Ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat, and you will find the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.
What a Dachshund Puppy costs in Devikulam
Expect ₹15,221 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Check three things before you commit: whether your association permits a small dog, whether the service lift is usable, and what your floor is made of. Polished granite and a young Dachshund Puppy are a bad pairing - put runners down before it arrives, not after the first slip.
Dachshund Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹15,221 to ₹15,221 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Dachshund Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Dachshund Puppy is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a small dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Dachshund in Devikulam: local climate
The city sits at about 1,594 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 26°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Dachshund that it is on the plains.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 10°C. A Dachshund has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.
The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Dachshund puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 21 | 25 | 26 | 25 | 22 | 19 | 18 | 19 | 19 | 20 | 20 | 20 |
| Low °C | 10 | 11 | 13 | 15 | 15 | 15 | 14 | 14 | 14 | 14 | 13 | 11 |
| Rain mm | 12 | 24 | 47 | 107 | 217 | 334 | 291 | 245 | 231 | 312 | 171 | 38 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Your week with a Dachshund Puppy, reduced to what actually matters.

- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
