What is listed for Makthal is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Dusky Lorikeet you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Is a Dusky Lorikeet a sensible choice for you in Makthal?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Dusky Lorikeet will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Makthal without much drama.
Feeding a small bird without guesswork
Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the bird lobbies. A Dusky Lorikeet that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 5-15 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Dusky Lorikeet arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Do not introduce a small Dusky Lorikeet to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the bird already has one place it considers its own.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Dusky Lorikeet; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Weather, coat and the Telangana year
moderate Deccan, and the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
What you will pay
Expect ₹62,167 upward, to around ₹62,167. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.
Health and handover
Every Dusky Lorikeet is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a small bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Dusky Lorikeet in Makthal: local climate
Makthal is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Dusky Lorikeet needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.
Winters are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.
Most of the year's rain falls in September. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Dusky Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 35 | 38 | 40 | 40 | 34 | 32 | 31 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 |
| Low °C | 15 | 18 | 22 | 25 | 27 | 24 | 23 | 22 | 22 | 20 | 17 | 15 |
| Rain mm | 5 | 3 | 17 | 25 | 46 | 97 | 129 | 137 | 157 | 82 | 15 | 2 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
