We place across Vellarikkundu and the wider Kerala region. If a large dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Do not introduce a large German Shepherd Puppy to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the dog already has one place it considers its own.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The German Shepherd Puppy will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a German Shepherd Puppy comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Vellarikkundu flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
What a German Shepherd Puppy costs in Vellarikkundu
The purchase is the small number. Over 10-12 Years, food, boosters, grooming and one unplanned vet visit a year will each outweigh it. Anyone selling you a German Shepherd Puppy without mentioning that is selling, not advising.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a German Shepherd Puppy names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented dog from an undocumented one.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips For a German Shepherd Puppy that means grooming is not cosmetic - it is how you catch problems early. Ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat, and you will find the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.
German Shepherd Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹21,483 to ₹21,483 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a German Shepherd Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every German Shepherd Puppy is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a German Shepherd in Vellarikkundu: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 32°C. That is manageable for a German Shepherd, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 23°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
For a new German Shepherd puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, April, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 30 | 32 | 32 | 32 | 30 | 28 | 27 | 27 | 27 | 28 | 29 | 29 |
| Low °C | 23 | 24 | 25 | 26 | 27 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 24 | 23 |
| Rain mm | 3 | 5 | 22 | 67 | 222 | 851 | 884 | 669 | 380 | 269 | 106 | 20 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for German Shepherd Puppy
A practical checklist for a large dog in a Vellarikkundu flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
