What is listed for Kozhikode is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different dog that fits your schedule than sell you the Golden Retriever you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Golden Retriever that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 10-12 Years is easier.
Settling in with children and other pets
Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new large dog entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.
What a Golden Retriever costs in Kozhikode
Expect ₹15,000 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Golden Retriever.
Is a Golden Retriever a sensible choice for you in Kozhikode?
Ask yourself who walks it at seven in the morning. That one question decides more Golden Retriever placements in Kozhikode than price does. If the answer is genuinely nobody, look at a lower-energy breed instead - we will help you do that.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Golden Retriever price, and the cost after it
₹15,000 to ₹45,000 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Golden Retriever without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Golden Retriever is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Golden Retriever in Kozhikode: local climate
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 32°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Golden Retriever that it is on the plains.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 25°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Golden Retriever puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 30 | 31 | 32 | 31 | 30 | 28 | 27 | 27 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 30 |
| Low °C | 25 | 26 | 27 | 28 | 28 | 27 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 25 |
| Rain mm | 5 | 10 | 33 | 94 | 219 | 497 | 459 | 346 | 243 | 240 | 130 | 28 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Golden Retriever
A practical checklist for a large dog in a Kozhikode flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
