What a Dachshund Puppy costs in Chikkamagaluru
Between ₹15,221 and ₹15,221 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the dog is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Dachshund Puppy costs more up front and less in the first months.
Is a Dachshund Puppy a sensible choice for you in Chikkamagaluru?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small dog in a Chikkamagaluru apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Dachshund Puppy arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a dog that seeks them out.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a small dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Feeding a small dog without guesswork
Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the dog lobbies. A Dachshund Puppy that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 10-12 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Check three things before you commit: whether your association permits a small dog, whether the service lift is usable, and what your floor is made of. Polished granite and a young Dachshund Puppy are a bad pairing - put runners down before it arrives, not after the first slip.
What you will pay
Expect ₹15,221 upward, to around ₹15,221. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 10-12 Years.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Dachshund in Chikkamagaluru: local climate
The city sits at about 1,042 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 32°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Dachshund that it is on the plains.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C. A Dachshund has a short, thin coat, so a light sweater helps on the coldest nights.
The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Dachshund puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, April, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 25 | 28 | 31 | 32 | 29 | 24 | 23 | 23 | 24 | 24 | 24 | 24 |
| Low °C | 12 | 13 | 16 | 19 | 19 | 18 | 18 | 18 | 17 | 17 | 15 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 1 | 3 | 16 | 41 | 131 | 573 | 639 | 505 | 287 | 178 | 61 | 9 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Dachshund Puppy
Your week with a Dachshund Puppy, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the dog properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Dachshund Puppy comes home.
