What is listed for Chikkamagaluru is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different dog that fits your schedule than sell you the Afghan Hound Puppy you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A large breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Is a Afghan Hound Puppy a sensible choice for you in Chikkamagaluru?
Ask yourself who walks it at seven in the morning. That one question decides more Afghan Hound Puppy placements in Chikkamagaluru than price does. If the answer is genuinely nobody, look at a lower-energy breed instead - we will help you do that.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Afghan Hound Puppy arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a dog that seeks them out.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A aloof Afghan Hound Puppy that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 12–14 Years is easier.
Weather, coat and the Karnataka year
moderate Deccan, and the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the dog dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
What a Afghan Hound Puppy costs in Chikkamagaluru
Expect ₹78,285 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Afghan Hound Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹78,285 to ₹78,285 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Afghan Hound Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Chikkamagaluru: local climate
The city sits at about 1,042 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 32°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Afghan Hound that it is on the plains.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 12°C.
The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 25 | 28 | 31 | 32 | 29 | 24 | 23 | 23 | 24 | 24 | 24 | 24 |
| Low °C | 12 | 13 | 16 | 19 | 19 | 18 | 18 | 18 | 17 | 17 | 15 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 1 | 3 | 16 | 41 | 131 | 573 | 639 | 505 | 287 | 178 | 61 | 9 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
