Black Capped Conure

Thinking about a Black Capped Conure? It is a small dog, quieter, and lives around 15–20 years. Before anything else, check your week: this breed does well when someone is home to break up the day, and poorly with eleven empty hours.

If that does not describe your household, tell us - we would rather point you at a different dog that fits than sell you this one.

Your Black Capped Conure checklist

• Damp: dry it properly in the wet months - skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
• Perches: varying diameters, natural wood rather than all dowel, to keep feet healthy.
• Bathing: a shallow dish or a light misting a few times a week.
• Company: these are social birds - hours of silence are as hard on them as a poor diet.
• Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
