What is listed for Yercaud is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Yellow Naped Amazon you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Weather, coat and the Tamil Nadu year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a medium bird notices both. moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Yellow Naped Amazon will barely register the change.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Feeding a medium bird without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Yellow Naped Amazon will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Yellow Naped Amazon.
Is a Yellow Naped Amazon a sensible choice for you in Yercaud?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Yellow Naped Amazon will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Yercaud without much drama.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Yellow Naped Amazon arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Yellow Naped Amazon price, and the cost after it
₹94,020 to ₹94,020 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Yellow Naped Amazon without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Yellow Naped Amazon in Yercaud: local climate
The city sits at about 1,414 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Yellow Naped Amazon that it is on the plains.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C. A light sweater helps a medium Yellow Naped Amazon on the coldest nights.
Most of the year's rain falls in October. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Yellow Naped Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are March, April, May, June, July, August and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 23 | 27 | 30 | 31 | 29 | 26 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 23 | 21 | 22 |
| Low °C | 9 | 11 | 14 | 17 | 17 | 16 | 15 | 15 | 15 | 14 | 12 | 10 |
| Rain mm | 6 | 7 | 18 | 48 | 92 | 59 | 78 | 98 | 134 | 166 | 119 | 40 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
