Buy Blue & Gold Macaw in Salem, Tamil Nadu
We place across Salem and the wider Tamil Nadu region. If a large bird does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Is a Blue & Gold Macaw a sensible choice for you in Salem?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Blue & Gold Macaw will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Salem without much drama.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Do not introduce a large Blue & Gold Macaw to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the bird already has one place it considers its own.
Feeding a large bird without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Blue & Gold Macaw will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Weather, coat and the Tamil Nadu year
humid coastal, and moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
What a Blue & Gold Macaw costs in Salem
Between ₹130,187 and ₹130,187 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the bird is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Blue & Gold Macaw costs more up front and less in the first months.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Blue & Gold Macaw that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 5-15 Years is easier.
What you will pay
Expect ₹130,187 upward, to around ₹130,187. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.
Health and handover
Every Blue & Gold Macaw is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Blue & Gold Macaw in Salem: local climate
Salem is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Blue & Gold Macaw needs real protection from that: a cage well away from windows and direct sun, a shallow bath dish, and a room that stays under about 32°C.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 17°C, so cold is not a concern.
Most of the year's rain falls in October. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Blue & Gold Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, July, August, September and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 31 | 34 | 37 | 38 | 36 | 34 | 34 | 33 | 32 | 31 | 29 | 29 |
| Low °C | 17 | 18 | 22 | 25 | 25 | 23 | 23 | 22 | 22 | 22 | 20 | 17 |
| Rain mm | 6 | 8 | 18 | 41 | 81 | 47 | 63 | 84 | 113 | 158 | 134 | 45 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
