What is listed for Kotagiri is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Blue Fronted Amazon you asked for and hear about it in six months.

Settling in with children and other pets

Teach the children the rules before the Blue Fronted Amazon arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.

Weather, coat and the Tamil Nadu year

The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a medium bird notices both. the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Blue Fronted Amazon will barely register the change.

Health records you should insist on

Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.

Is a Blue Fronted Amazon a sensible choice for you in Kotagiri?

You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A medium bird in a Kotagiri apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Blue Fronted Amazon.
