We place across Kodaikanal and the wider Tamil Nadu region. If a medium bird does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
What a Yellow Naped Amazon costs in Kodaikanal
Expect ₹94,020 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Weather, coat and the Tamil Nadu year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a medium bird notices both. moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Yellow Naped Amazon will barely register the change.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Yellow Naped Amazon.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Yellow Naped Amazon arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Is a Yellow Naped Amazon a sensible choice for you in Kodaikanal?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A medium bird in a Kodaikanal apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Yellow Naped Amazon price, and the cost after it
₹94,020 to ₹94,020 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Yellow Naped Amazon without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Yellow Naped Amazon in Kodaikanal: local climate
The city sits at about 2,098 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 24°C in April, so heat is rarely the problem for a Yellow Naped Amazon that it is on the plains.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 6°C. A light sweater helps a medium Yellow Naped Amazon on the coldest nights.
The rainy season runs from October to November, and October is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Yellow Naped Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
