What is listed for Kalavai is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Blue Monk you asked for and hear about it in six months.

What a Blue Monk costs in Kalavai

Between ₹26,131 and ₹26,131 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the bird is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Blue Monk costs more up front and less in the first months.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Blue Monk reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Blue Monk comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kalavai flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Feeding a small bird without guesswork

Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the bird lobbies. A Blue Monk that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 5-15 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.

Weather, coat and the Tamil Nadu year

coastal tropical, and the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.

Is a Blue Monk a sensible choice for you in Kalavai?

Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Blue Monk will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kalavai without much drama.

What you will pay

Expect ₹26,131 upward, to around ₹26,131. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.

Records to insist on

Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
