We place across Mananthavady and the wider Kerala region. If a large bird does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Blue & Gold Macaw names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented bird from an undocumented one.
Feeding a large bird without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Blue & Gold Macaw will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a large bird notices both. moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Blue & Gold Macaw will barely register the change.
What a Blue & Gold Macaw costs in Mananthavady
Between ₹130,187 and ₹130,187 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the bird is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Blue & Gold Macaw costs more up front and less in the first months.
Is a Blue & Gold Macaw a sensible choice for you in Mananthavady?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A large bird in a Mananthavady apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Blue & Gold Macaw that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 5-15 Years is easier.
What you will pay
Expect ₹130,187 upward, to around ₹130,187. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Blue & Gold Macaw in Mananthavady: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Blue & Gold Macaw: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Blue & Gold Macaw bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 29 | 32 | 34 | 34 | 30 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 26 |
| Low °C | 15 | 16 | 19 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 19 | 19 | 19 | 19 | 17 | 15 |
| Rain mm | 3 | 5 | 24 | 67 | 152 | 349 | 375 | 273 | 202 | 176 | 84 | 17 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Your week with a Blue & Gold Macaw, reduced to what actually matters.

- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Blue & Gold Macaw comes home.
