What is listed for Kozhenchery is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Blue Monk you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Blue Monk names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented bird from an undocumented one.
What a Blue Monk costs in Kozhenchery
Expect ₹26,131 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Is a Blue Monk a sensible choice for you in Kozhenchery?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Blue Monk will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kozhenchery without much drama.
Feeding a small bird without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Blue Monk will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Blue Monk reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Blue Monk comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kozhenchery flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Blue Monk price, and the cost after it
₹26,131 to ₹26,131 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Blue Monk without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Blue Monk is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a small bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Blue Monk in Kozhenchery: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Blue Monk: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 18°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Blue Monk bird, the easiest months to arrive are December to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 29 | 32 | 34 | 32 | 29 | 27 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 27 | 27 |
| Low °C | 18 | 19 | 21 | 22 | 23 | 22 | 22 | 21 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 19 |
| Rain mm | 15 | 28 | 57 | 127 | 246 | 357 | 296 | 251 | 256 | 341 | 200 | 46 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Blue Monk | Blue Quaker Parrot
Your week with a Blue Monk, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the bird properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Blue Monk comes home.
