What is listed for Kottarakkara is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Senegal Parrot you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
warm and humid, and the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Senegal Parrot names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented bird from an undocumented one.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Senegal Parrot arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Check three things before you commit: whether your association permits a small bird, whether the service lift is usable, and what your floor is made of. Polished granite and a young Senegal Parrot are a bad pairing - put runners down before it arrives, not after the first slip.
Is a Senegal Parrot a sensible choice for you in Kottarakkara?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small bird in a Kottarakkara apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Senegal Parrot.
Senegal Parrot price, and the cost after it
₹42,931 to ₹42,931 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Senegal Parrot without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Senegal Parrot is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a small bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Senegal Parrot in Kottarakkara: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Senegal Parrot: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 20°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to November, and October is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Senegal Parrot bird, the easiest months to arrive are December to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |

Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Senegal Parrot
A practical checklist for a small bird in a Kottarakkara flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
