We place across Kannur and the wider Kerala region. If a small bird does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a White Bellied Caique comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kannur flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Is a White Bellied Caique a sensible choice for you in Kannur?

Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly White Bellied Caique will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kannur without much drama.

What a White Bellied Caique costs in Kannur

Expect ₹59,147 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.

Settling in with children and other pets

Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new small bird entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.

Weather, coat and the Kerala year

the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention For a White Bellied Caique that means grooming is not cosmetic - it is how you catch problems early. Ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat, and you will find the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A White Bellied Caique reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.

What you will pay

Expect ₹59,147 upward, to around ₹59,147. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.

Records to insist on

Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
