What is listed for Ernakulam is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Yellow Naped Amazon you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly Yellow Naped Amazon is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 5-15 Years.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Yellow Naped Amazon comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Ernakulam flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Yellow Naped Amazon; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Feeding a medium bird without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A medium breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Yellow Naped Amazon reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.
Is a Yellow Naped Amazon a sensible choice for you in Ernakulam?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A medium bird in a Ernakulam apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Yellow Naped Amazon price, and the cost after it
₹94,020 to ₹94,020 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Yellow Naped Amazon without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Yellow Naped Amazon in Ernakulam: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Yellow Naped Amazon: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 23°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new Yellow Naped Amazon bird, the easiest months to arrive are December to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 33 | 33 | 32 | 30 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 30 |

Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Your week with a Yellow Naped Amazon, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the bird properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Yellow Naped Amazon comes home.
