Feeding a small bird without guesswork

Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A small breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a White Bellied Caique comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Sorab flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Is a White Bellied Caique a sensible choice for you in Sorab?

You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small bird in a Sorab apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new White Bellied Caique.

Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a small bird notices both. the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the White Bellied Caique will barely register the change.
