We place across RMV Extension Stage 1 and the wider Karnataka region. If a small bird does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.

Is a Hahn's Macaw a sensible choice for you in RMV Extension Stage 1?

Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Hahn's Macaw will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into RMV Extension Stage 1 without much drama.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Hahn's Macaw.

Settling in with children and other pets

Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new small bird entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.

Feeding a small bird without guesswork

Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Hahn's Macaw will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Check three things before you commit: whether your association permits a small bird, whether the service lift is usable, and what your floor is made of. Polished granite and a young Hahn's Macaw are a bad pairing - put runners down before it arrives, not after the first slip.

Health records you should insist on

Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Hahn's Macaw names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented bird from an undocumented one.

What you will pay

Expect ₹64,953 upward, to around ₹64,953. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.

Health and handover

Every Hahn's Macaw is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a small bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
