Your first fortnight, step by step

Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Moluccan Cockatoo reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.

Settling in with children and other pets

Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new large bird entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Moluccan Cockatoo comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Malleswaram flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a large bird notices both. the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Moluccan Cockatoo will barely register the change.

Health records you should insist on
