Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

mild tropical plateau, and the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Hahn's Macaw comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a MacIver Town flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Is a Hahn's Macaw a sensible choice for you in MacIver Town?

You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small bird in a MacIver Town apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.

Settling in with children and other pets

Teach the children the rules before the Hahn's Macaw arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Do not introduce a small Hahn's Macaw to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the bird already has one place it considers its own.
