What is listed for Kundapura is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the African Grey Parrot you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the African Grey Parrot arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a bird that seeks them out.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A African Grey Parrot reads consistency as safety, and a settled bird learns faster.
Is a African Grey Parrot a sensible choice for you in Kundapura?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly African Grey Parrot will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kundapura without much drama.
Feeding a medium bird without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A medium breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Weather, coat and the Karnataka year
moderate Deccan, and the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every African Grey Parrot; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
African Grey Parrot price, and the cost after it
₹67,146 to ₹67,146 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a African Grey Parrot without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every African Grey Parrot is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a African Grey Parrot in Kundapura: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 35°C. That is manageable for a African Grey Parrot: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 21°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from June to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new African Grey Parrot bird, the easiest months to arrive are November to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 31 | 34 | 35 | 35 | 33 | 30 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 30 | 31 | 30 |
| Low °C | 21 | 22 | 24 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 24 | 23 | 22 |
| Rain mm | 1 | 3 | 16 | 38 | 147 | 820 | 904 | 722 | 382 | 223 | 68 | 9 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
