Buy Chattering Lorikeet in Kodagu, Karnataka
What is listed for Kodagu is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Chattering Lorikeet you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly Chattering Lorikeet is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 5-15 Years.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Chattering Lorikeet; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Chattering Lorikeet comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kodagu flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Feeding a small bird without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Chattering Lorikeet will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Is a Chattering Lorikeet a sensible choice for you in Kodagu?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small bird in a Kodagu apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
What a Chattering Lorikeet costs in Kodagu
Expect ₹60,337 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Chattering Lorikeet price, and the cost after it
₹60,337 to ₹60,337 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Chattering Lorikeet without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Chattering Lorikeet is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a small bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Chattering Lorikeet in Kodagu: local climate
The city sits at about 935 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summer here peaks in April at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Chattering Lorikeet: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.
There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.
For a new Chattering Lorikeet bird, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, March, May, June, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 28 | 32 | 34 | 35 | 33 | 29 | 28 | 27 | 27 | 26 | 26 | 26 |
| Low °C | 13 | 14 | 18 | 21 | 21 | 19 | 18 | 18 | 18 | 17 | 15 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 3 | 5 | 16 | 49 | 97 | 77 | 94 | 104 | 147 | 133 | 57 | 13 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Chattering Lorikeet
Your week with a Chattering Lorikeet, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the bird properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Chattering Lorikeet comes home.
