What is listed for Kalagi is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the Yellow Naped Amazon you asked for and hear about it in six months.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Yellow Naped Amazon comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kalagi flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds For a Yellow Naped Amazon that means grooming is not cosmetic - it is how you catch problems early. Ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat, and you will find the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.

Health records you should insist on

Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Do not introduce a medium Yellow Naped Amazon to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the bird already has one place it considers its own.

Feeding a medium bird without guesswork

Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A medium breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
