Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A medium breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.

Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a medium bird notices both. the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Yellow Naped Amazon will barely register the change.

Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Yellow Naped Amazon will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Hole Narsipur without much drama.

Health records you should insist on

Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Yellow Naped Amazon; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Yellow Naped Amazon comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Hole Narsipur flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Week one: keep the bird to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Yellow Naped Amazon.

What you will pay

Expect ₹94,020 upward, to around ₹94,020. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 5-15 Years.

Health and handover

Every Yellow Naped Amazon is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
