What is listed for Dandeli is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different bird that fits your schedule than sell you the African Grey Parrot you asked for and hear about it in six months.
What a African Grey Parrot costs in Dandeli
The purchase is the small number. Over 5-15 Years, food, boosters, grooming and one unplanned vet visit a year will each outweigh it. Anyone selling you a African Grey Parrot without mentioning that is selling, not advising.
Weather, coat and the Karnataka year
pleasant semi-tropical, and the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the bird dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every African Grey Parrot; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a African Grey Parrot comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Dandeli flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Is a African Grey Parrot a sensible choice for you in Dandeli?
You are choosing a 5-15 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A medium bird in a Dandeli apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Settling in with children and other pets
Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new medium bird entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.
African Grey Parrot price, and the cost after it
₹67,146 to ₹67,146 for the bird. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a African Grey Parrot without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every African Grey Parrot is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a medium bird moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a African Grey Parrot in Dandeli: local climate
Summer here peaks in April at about 37°C. That is manageable for a African Grey Parrot: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Keep the cage out of damp corners and change the paper daily.
For a new African Grey Parrot bird, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, May, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 34 | 36 | 37 | 34 | 28 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 28 | 28 | 30 |
| Low °C | 16 | 17 | 19 | 21 | 22 | 22 | 22 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 17 | 16 |

Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
