We place across Thamarassery and the wider Kerala region. If a medium dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Is a Border Collie Puppy a sensible choice for you in Thamarassery?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A medium dog in a Thamarassery apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Feeding a medium dog without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A medium breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Border Collie Puppy that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 10-12 Years is easier.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Border Collie Puppy arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a dog that seeks them out.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Border Collie Puppy reads consistency as safety, and a settled dog learns faster.
What a Border Collie Puppy costs in Thamarassery
The purchase is the small number. Over 10-12 Years, food, boosters, grooming and one unplanned vet visit a year will each outweigh it. Anyone selling you a Border Collie Puppy without mentioning that is selling, not advising.
Border Collie Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹200,267 to ₹200,267 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Border Collie Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Border Collie Puppy is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a medium dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Border Collie in Thamarassery: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a Border Collie, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
For a new Border Collie puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 29 | 32 | 34 | 32 | 29 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 27 |
| Low °C | 16 | 17 | 20 | 21 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 20 | 20 | 20 | 18 | 16 |
| Rain mm | 4 | 7 | 28 | 74 | 166 | 377 | 371 | 269 | 206 | 209 | 109 | 22 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Border Collie Puppy
A practical checklist for a medium dog in a Thamarassery flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
