Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Afghan Hound Puppy comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kanayannur flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Is a Afghan Hound Puppy a sensible choice for you in Kanayannur?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a aloof Afghan Hound Puppy will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Kanayannur without much drama.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A large breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Afghan Hound Puppy arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a dog that seeks them out.
What a Afghan Hound Puppy costs in Kanayannur
Between ₹78,285 and ₹78,285 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the dog is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Afghan Hound Puppy costs more up front and less in the first months.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Afghan Hound Puppy names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented dog from an undocumented one.
What you will pay
Expect ₹78,285 upward, to around ₹78,285. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 12–14 Years.
Health and handover
Every Afghan Hound Puppy is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Kanayannur: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Afghan Hound, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 24°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 33 | 33 | 32 | 30 | 29 | 28 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 29 | 30 |
| Low °C | 24 | 25 | 26 | 27 | 27 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 24 |
| Rain mm | 13 | 29 | 53 | 130 | 278 | 501 | 430 | 343 | 297 | 351 | 176 | 37 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Afghan Hound Puppy
Your week with a Afghan Hound Puppy, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the dog properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Afghan Hound Puppy comes home.
