We place across Idukki and the wider Kerala region. If a large dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Do not introduce a large Boxer Puppy to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the dog already has one place it considers its own.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
humid coastal, and the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the dog dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
Settling in with children and other pets
Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new large dog entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Boxer Puppy; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A large breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Is a Boxer Puppy a sensible choice for you in Idukki?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A large dog in a Idukki apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Boxer Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹26,995 to ₹26,995 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Boxer Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Boxer in Idukki: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Boxer, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 17°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from May to November, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.
For a new Boxer puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, April and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 28 | 31 | 33 | 32 | 28 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 26 |
| Low °C | 17 | 18 | 20 | 21 | 22 | 21 | 20 | 20 | 20 | 20 | 19 | 18 |
| Rain mm | 12 | 24 | 47 | 107 | 217 | 334 | 291 | 245 | 231 | 312 | 171 | 38 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Boxer Puppy
A practical checklist for a large dog in a Idukki flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
