We place across Chittur and the wider Kerala region. If a giant dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly French Mastiff Puppy is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 10-12 Years.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new French Mastiff Puppy.
Is a French Mastiff Puppy a sensible choice for you in Chittur?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A giant dog in a Chittur apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
What a French Mastiff Puppy costs in Chittur
Expect ₹47,270 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a French Mastiff Puppy comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Chittur flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every French Mastiff Puppy; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
What you will pay
Expect ₹47,270 upward, to around ₹47,270. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 10-12 Years.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a French Mastiff in Chittur: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 37°C. That is manageable for a French Mastiff, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and a giant body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 19°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and June is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.
For a new French Mastiff puppy, the easiest months to arrive are December to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 35 | 37 | 36 | 32 | 29 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 30 | 29 | 30 |
| Low °C | 19 | 20 | 23 | 24 | 24 | 24 | 23 | 23 | 23 | 23 | 22 | 20 |
| Rain mm | 8 | 16 | 36 | 80 | 159 | 247 | 223 | 190 | 174 | 244 | 142 | 31 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for French Mastiff Puppy
A practical checklist for a giant dog in a Chittur flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
