What is listed for Alathur is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different dog that fits your schedule than sell you the German Shepherd Puppy you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the German Shepherd Puppy arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a dog that seeks them out.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Is a German Shepherd Puppy a sensible choice for you in Alathur?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A large dog in a Alathur apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Weather, coat and the Kerala year
the sea-influenced humidity makes ventilation and dry bedding important For a German Shepherd Puppy that means grooming is not cosmetic - it is how you catch problems early. Ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat, and you will find the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Do not introduce a large German Shepherd Puppy to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the dog already has one place it considers its own.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the dog lobbies. A German Shepherd Puppy that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 10-12 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.
German Shepherd Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹21,483 to ₹21,483 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a German Shepherd Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every German Shepherd Puppy is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a German Shepherd in Alathur: local climate
Summer here peaks in March at about 34°C. That is manageable for a German Shepherd, but watch it closely because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
For a new German Shepherd puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 29 | 32 | 34 | 34 | 30 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 26 | 26 |
| Low °C | 15 | 16 | 19 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 19 | 19 | 19 | 19 | 17 | 15 |
| Rain mm | 3 | 5 | 24 | 67 | 152 | 349 | 375 | 273 | 202 | 176 | 84 | 17 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for German Shepherd Puppy
A practical checklist for a large dog in a Alathur flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
