We place across Vijayapura and the wider Karnataka region. If a large dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Afghan Hound Puppy; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Afghan Hound Puppy will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
What a Afghan Hound Puppy costs in Vijayapura
Expect ₹78,285 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Weather, coat and the Karnataka year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a large dog notices both. comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Afghan Hound Puppy will barely register the change.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Check three things before you commit: whether your association permits a large dog, whether the service lift is usable, and what your floor is made of. Polished granite and a young Afghan Hound Puppy are a bad pairing - put runners down before it arrives, not after the first slip.
Is a Afghan Hound Puppy a sensible choice for you in Vijayapura?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a aloof Afghan Hound Puppy will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Vijayapura without much drama.
What you will pay
Expect ₹78,285 upward, to around ₹78,285. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 12–14 Years.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Vijayapura: local climate
Vijayapura is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to May. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are mild, with December nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.
There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, June, July, August, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 31 | 34 | 37 | 40 | 39 | 32 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 |
| Low °C | 14 | 17 | 21 | 24 | 24 | 22 | 21 | 21 | 21 | 19 | 16 | 14 |
| Rain mm | 2 | 2 | 9 | 17 | 33 | 82 | 94 | 95 | 124 | 74 | 16 | 2 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Afghan Hound Puppy
Your week with a Afghan Hound Puppy, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the dog properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Afghan Hound Puppy comes home.
