What is listed for Somvarpet is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different dog that fits your schedule than sell you the Shih Tzu you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Is a Shih Tzu a sensible choice for you in Somvarpet?
You are choosing a 10-16 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small dog in a Somvarpet apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Shih Tzu.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Shih Tzu; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Shih Tzu comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Somvarpet flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Weather, coat and the Karnataka year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a small dog notices both. the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Shih Tzu will barely register the change.
Settling in with children and other pets
Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new small dog entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.
Shih Tzu price, and the cost after it
₹23,725 to ₹23,725 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Shih Tzu without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Shih Tzu in Somvarpet: local climate
The city sits at about 1,133 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Shih Tzu that it is on the plains.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 12°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
For a new Shih Tzu puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 26 | 29 | 31 | 30 | 26 | 22 | 21 | 21 | 22 | 23 | 23 | 23 |
| Low °C | 12 | 14 | 16 | 18 | 18 | 18 | 17 | 17 | 16 | 16 | 15 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 2 | 5 | 22 | 64 | 188 | 697 | 759 | 569 | 335 | 226 | 90 | 16 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
