Buy Shih Tzu in Madikeri, Karnataka

We place across Madikeri and the wider Karnataka region. If a small dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.

Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a small dog notices both. the balanced weather is one of the easier Indian climates for pet ownership Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Shih Tzu will barely register the change.

Settling in with children and other pets

Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A bold Shih Tzu is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 10-16 Years.

Feeding a small dog without guesswork

Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the dog lobbies. A Shih Tzu that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 10-16 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Shih Tzu.

Is a Shih Tzu a sensible choice for you in Madikeri?

You are choosing a 10-16 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A small dog in a Madikeri apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.

Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Shih Tzu comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Madikeri flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Shih Tzu price, and the cost after it

₹24,055 to ₹24,055 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Shih Tzu without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.

Records to insist on

Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
