We place across Madikeri and the wider Karnataka region. If a giant dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Saint Bernard Puppy arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a dog that seeks them out.
Is a Saint Bernard Puppy a sensible choice for you in Madikeri?
Ask yourself who walks it at seven in the morning. That one question decides more Saint Bernard Puppy placements in Madikeri than price does. If the answer is genuinely nobody, look at a lower-energy breed instead - we will help you do that.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Saint Bernard Puppy comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Madikeri flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Saint Bernard Puppy names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented dog from an undocumented one.
What a Saint Bernard Puppy costs in Madikeri
Between ₹39,369 and ₹39,369 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the dog is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Saint Bernard Puppy costs more up front and less in the first months.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Saint Bernard Puppy.
Saint Bernard Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹39,369 to ₹39,369 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Saint Bernard Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Saint Bernard Puppy is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a giant dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Saint Bernard in Madikeri: local climate
The city sits at about 1,141 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in March, so heat is rarely the problem for a Saint Bernard that it is on the plains.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 12°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from May to October, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Saint Bernard puppy, the easiest months to arrive are November to April: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 26 | 29 | 31 | 30 | 26 | 22 | 21 | 21 | 22 | 23 | 23 | 23 |
| Low °C | 12 | 14 | 16 | 18 | 18 | 18 | 17 | 17 | 16 | 16 | 15 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 2 | 5 | 22 | 64 | 188 | 697 | 759 | 569 | 335 | 226 | 90 | 16 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Saint Bernard Puppy
Your week with a Saint Bernard Puppy, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the dog properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Saint Bernard Puppy comes home.
