We place across Kodagu and the wider Karnataka region. If a giant dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Health records you should insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note. You should be able to read them before you pay. We provide all three with every Great Dane Puppy; if any seller cannot, treat that as the answer.
What a Great Dane Puppy costs in Kodagu
Between ₹58,833 and ₹58,833 covers most placements here. Where yours falls depends on lineage and how old the dog is at handover - an older, fully vaccinated Great Dane Puppy costs more up front and less in the first months.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly Great Dane Puppy is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 10-12 Years.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Your neighbours matter more than your floor plan. A family friendly Great Dane Puppy that greets the corridor politely buys you goodwill you will need later. Spend the first month on that and the rest of 10-12 Years is easier.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Great Dane Puppy.
Feeding a giant dog without guesswork
Skip the table scraps entirely, however hard the dog lobbies. A Great Dane Puppy that learns the dining table is a food source will keep asking for 10-12 Years. Set that boundary in week one and you never have to revisit it.
Great Dane Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹58,833 to ₹58,833 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Great Dane Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Great Dane in Kodagu: local climate
The city sits at about 935 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summer here peaks in April at about 35°C. That is manageable for a Great Dane, but watch it closely because a giant body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 13°C, so cold is not a concern.
There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.
For a new Great Dane puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, February, March, May, June, July, August, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 28 | 32 | 34 | 35 | 33 | 29 | 28 | 27 | 27 | 26 | 26 | 26 |
| Low °C | 13 | 14 | 18 | 21 | 21 | 19 | 18 | 18 | 18 | 17 | 15 | 13 |
| Rain mm | 3 | 5 | 16 | 49 | 97 | 77 | 94 | 104 | 147 | 133 | 57 | 13 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Great Dane Puppy
Your week with a Great Dane Puppy, reduced to what actually matters.
- Grooming: ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat. You find the tick while it is still nothing.
- Damp: dry the dog properly in the wet months. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
- Balcony: grilles up before the Great Dane Puppy comes home.
