Apartment living: what actually matters

Balconies need grilles before a Shih Tzu comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Kathriguppe flat with people in it beats a large empty house.

Weather, coat and the Karnataka year

pleasant semi-tropical, and the plateau climate is relatively moderate, which suits a wide range of breeds Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the dog dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.

Is a Shih Tzu a sensible choice for you in Kathriguppe?

Ask yourself who walks it at seven in the morning. That one question decides more Shih Tzu placements in Kathriguppe than price does. If the answer is genuinely nobody, look at a lower-energy breed instead - we will help you do that.

Feeding a small dog without guesswork

Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A small breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.

Your first fortnight, step by step

Do not introduce a small Shih Tzu to the whole building in week one. Let it learn your flat first. Everything else - lift, lobby, other residents - goes better when the dog already has one place it considers its own.

Settling in with children and other pets

Give the resident pet the higher ground and the first choice of space. A new small dog entering an established household is the intruder, and letting the existing animal keep its status shortens the adjustment considerably.

Shih Tzu price, and the cost after it

₹24,055 to ₹24,055 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Shih Tzu without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.

Records to insist on

Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
