We place across Chikodi and the wider Karnataka region. If a large dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
What a Dogo Argentino Puppy costs in Chikodi
Expect ₹56,603 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Is a Dogo Argentino Puppy a sensible choice for you in Chikodi?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Dogo Argentino Puppy will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Chikodi without much drama.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Dogo Argentino Puppy comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Chikodi flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly Dogo Argentino Puppy is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 10-12 Years.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Dogo Argentino Puppy will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Weather, coat and the Karnataka year
mild tropical plateau, and comfortable temperatures for most of the year make routine care straightforward Your practical takeaway: brush more often than the breed guides suggest, keep the dog dry through the wet months, and check between the pads after walks. Skin trouble here starts damp and gets ignored.
Dogo Argentino Puppy price, and the cost after it
₹56,603 to ₹56,603 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Dogo Argentino Puppy without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Records to insist on
Ask for the vaccination card, the deworming dates and the pre-handover vet note, and read them before you pay. We provide all three. Insist on originals — a genuine record names the vet and carries dates you can verify.
Raising a Dogo Argentino in Chikodi: local climate
Chikodi is hottest in April, averaging 38°C in the afternoon. A Dogo Argentino needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are mild, with January nights around 14°C, so cold is not a concern.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk.
For a new Dogo Argentino puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 31 | 34 | 37 | 38 | 36 | 29 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 28 | 29 | 29 |
| Low °C | 14 | 16 | 19 | 21 | 22 | 22 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 19 | 16 | 14 |
| Rain mm | 1 | 1 | 6 | 14 | 47 | 263 | 330 | 266 | 169 | 89 | 17 | 2 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

- Floors: runners over polished granite before it arrives, not after the first slip.
- Food: portion by weight, adjust monthly, no table scraps from day one.
