We place across Kodumur and the wider Andhra Pradesh region. If a large dog does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Feeding a large dog without guesswork
Portion by weight and adjust monthly. The Golden Retriever will tell you it is starving regardless; your vet's target weight is the honest signal. Overfeeding in the first year is the single most common thing we correct.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the dog to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Golden Retriever.
Settling in with children and other pets
Introduce slowly and supervise every early meeting. A family friendly Golden Retriever is usually good with children, but 'usually' is doing work in that sentence - the first fortnight sets the pattern for 10-12 Years.
Health records you should insist on
Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year. Booster schedules run on the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
What a Golden Retriever costs in Kodumur
Expect ₹15,000 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Weather, coat and the Andhra Pradesh year
The year splits into a dry half and a wet half, and a large dog notices both. moisture in the air can encourage skin and ear issues if grooming slips Adjust walk times in the heat and drying routine in the rain, and the Golden Retriever will barely register the change.
Golden Retriever price, and the cost after it
₹15,000 to ₹45,000 for the dog. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Golden Retriever without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Golden Retriever is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a large dog moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Golden Retriever in Kodumur: local climate
Kodumur is hottest in April, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Golden Retriever needs real protection from that because its double coat holds heat close to the body and a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are mild, with December nights around 16°C, so cold is not a concern.
There is no long rainy season; what rain there is falls mostly in September.
For a new Golden Retriever puppy, the easiest months to arrive are January, August, October, November and December: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 35 | 38 | 40 | 39 | 33 | 32 | 32 | 31 | 30 | 30 | 30 |
| Low °C | 16 | 18 | 22 | 25 | 26 | 24 | 23 | 22 | 22 | 21 | 18 | 16 |
| Rain mm | 4 | 2 | 14 | 23 | 61 | 84 | 96 | 102 | 147 | 87 | 22 | 3 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Golden Retriever
A practical checklist for a large dog in a Kodumur flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
