What is listed for Makthal is what we can place. Ask us before you decide: we would rather steer you to a different cat that fits your schedule than sell you the Persian you asked for and hear about it in six months.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Persian comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Makthal flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Set the routine before you set the affection. Fixed meal times, a fixed sleeping spot, and a fixed person doing the feeding for the first fortnight. A Persian reads consistency as safety, and a settled cat learns faster.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Persian arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a cat that seeks them out.
What a Persian costs in Makthal
Expect ₹15,000 upward. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the paperwork you were told to insist on. Budget separately for the first year's vet work.
Health records you should insist on
Insist on originals, not photographs. A genuine record for a Persian names the vet and carries dates you can verify. It is a two-minute check that separates a documented cat from an undocumented one.
Is a Persian a sensible choice for you in Makthal?
You are choosing a 10-12 Years commitment, so be unsentimental for a minute. A medium cat in a Makthal apartment works when the building allows pets, the lift is reliable, and someone can break up the day. Two out of three is usually not enough.
What you will pay
Expect ₹15,000 upward, to around ₹45,000. Price tracks documentation and age, so the cheapest listing is usually the one missing the records you should insist on. Budget separately for the first year — food, boosters and one unplanned vet visit will each outweigh the purchase over 10-12 Years.
Health and handover
Every Persian is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a medium cat moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Persian in Makthal: local climate
Makthal is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from March to May. A Persian needs real protection from that because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: a cool room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon, a tiled floor to lie on, and fresh water in more than one place.
Winters are mild, with December nights around 15°C, so cold is not a concern.
Most of the year's rain falls in September. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
For a new Persian kitten, the easiest months to arrive are October to January: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 32 | 35 | 38 | 40 | 40 | 34 | 32 | 31 | 30 | 30 | 30 | 30 |
| Low °C | 15 | 18 | 22 | 25 | 27 | 24 | 23 | 22 | 22 | 20 | 17 | 15 |
| Rain mm | 5 | 3 | 17 | 25 | 46 | 97 | 129 | 137 | 157 | 82 | 15 | 2 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Persian
A practical checklist for a medium cat in a Makthal flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
