Buy Persian in Poonamallee, Tamil Nadu
We place across Poonamallee and the wider Tamil Nadu region. If a medium cat does not suit your hours, we will say so — that conversation is free and saves everyone the harder one later.
Settling in with children and other pets
Teach the children the rules before the Persian arrives: no disturbing it while eating, no picking it up, and let it come to them. Children who learn that get a cat that seeks them out.
Feeding a medium cat without guesswork
Match the food to the adult size, not the current one. A medium breed grows into its requirement over months, and switching brands abruptly will upset it - phase any change over a week. Fresh water, changed twice daily, matters more than the brand you choose.
Your first fortnight, step by step
Week one: keep the cat to two rooms, same feeding times daily, no visitors. Week two: widen the space, start short outdoor trips once the vaccination schedule allows. Rushing either half is the most common mistake we see with a new Persian.
Weather, coat and the Tamil Nadu year
the air stays humid through much of the year, so coat and skin care need attention For a Persian that means grooming is not cosmetic - it is how you catch problems early. Ten minutes twice a week, hands through the coat, and you will find the tick or the hot spot while it is still nothing.
Apartment living: what actually matters
Balconies need grilles before a Persian comes home, not after. Beyond that, apartment life suits this breed well: it wants company more than square footage, and a Poonamallee flat with people in it beats a large empty house.
Is a Persian a sensible choice for you in Poonamallee?
Start with your week, not the breed. If you are out of the flat eleven hours a day, a family friendly Persian will not fill the gap quietly - it will find something to do and you will not like it. If someone is home, this breed settles into Poonamallee without much drama.
Persian price, and the cost after it
₹15,000 to ₹45,000 for the cat. Then plan a similar amount again for year one. Anyone selling you a Persian without mentioning that second number is selling rather than advising.
Health and handover
Every Persian is checked, vaccinated and dewormed before listing. Keep the paperwork somewhere you will find it in a year: booster schedules run from the original dates, and a medium cat moving to a new vet needs that history intact.
Raising a Persian in Poonamallee: local climate
Summer here peaks in May at about 36°C. That is manageable for a Persian, but watch it closely because its short muzzle makes panting less effective at shedding heat and its double coat holds heat close to the body: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winters stay warm, with even January nights around 21°C, so there is no cold season to plan for.
The rainy season runs from October to November, and November is usually the wettest month. Dry the coat right down to the skin after it gets wet, or it can develop skin infections.
For a new Persian kitten, the easiest months to arrive are January to February: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 28 | 30 | 34 | 36 | 36 | 35 | 34 | 33 | 32 | 30 | 28 | 28 |
| Low °C | 21 | 21 | 23 | 26 | 27 | 27 | 26 | 25 | 25 | 25 | 23 | 22 |
| Rain mm | 16 | 6 | 14 | 27 | 54 | 69 | 106 | 130 | 147 | 258 | 296 | 123 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Persian
A practical checklist for a medium cat in a Poonamallee flat.
- Routine: fixed meals, fixed sleeping spot, one person feeding for the first fortnight.
- Paws: check between the pads after every walk.
- Company: a family friendly breed does badly with eleven empty hours. Arrange a break in the day.
- Neighbours: corridor manners in month one buy goodwill you will need later.
- Vet: registered before you need one, not during an emergency.
